Master Thesis: Hydrogen resistant materials for hydrogen gas applications

Do you want to take part in investigating which are the most suited metal alloys for hydrogen gas applications such as for storage and transport? 

This master's thesis aims to explore the relationship between microstructure, composition, hydrogen trapping, and hydrogen diffusion, as well as the influence of service conditions such as temperature, pressure, and gas composition. The research will primarily involve a comprehensive literature review, sample preparation, hydrogen gas charging using an H2 autoclave, hydrogen quantification by TDMS, and potentially other methods such as hydrogen permeation measurements using a Devanthan cell and mechanical degradation studies through SSRT in pressurized H2. At the conclusion of the thesis, a report written in English must be produced and presented at Swerim.
 
Qualifications:
We are looking for a curious and collaborative Master of Science student with a passion for metal alloys, microstructure and hydrogen.  
 
Project time
The project is intended for a master thesis (30hp). The start date is Q1 2025.  
 
Further information
This project is intended to be performed at Swerim in Kista, Stockholm. Swerim rewards the student with 50 000 SEK for an approved master thesis (30hp).
