In this position, the job assignments will be carried out together with Uppsala University.
Your profile: We are seeking a person that holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering, preferably within Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or Medical technology with a focus on materials. A few years of work experience is desirable but not essential. Skills within computational tools is desirable. You are proficient in both Swedish and English, and able to express yourself in speech and in writing.
Job assignments: You will conduct research, in the field of additive manufacturing of magnesium alloys, for implants. More specifically, the project should produce a magnesium alloy that decomposes at a moderate rate in the body, and also is printable in a 3D-printer. A potential user of the result is the company OssDesign AB that manufactures bioactive composites for bone replacement. Höganäs AB also participates in the project. The job requires experimental work and computational investigations, both at Swerim in Kista and at Ångströmslaboratoriet in Uppsala. the project will result in a PhD degree being awarded to the future employee within 3.5-5 years.
The future employee will be assigned other tasks as well, most likely shorter research projects in close collaboration with industry. Note that the offered position is a regular employment, and as such is not limited to 3.5-5 years.
